• Connecting to El Calafate via Buenos Aires: Upon arrival at Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport, take a connecting flight to El Calafate. From there, you’ll embark on a 137-mile (220 km) scenic drive to El Chaltén, with a travel time of approximately 3 hours. *Flights are primarily from Buenos Aires, with a non-stop travel time of approximately 3.5 hours to El Calafate. Airlines operating this route include Aerolíneas Argentinas, Jetsmart, and Flybondy.
• By Vehicle from El Chaltén: If you’re traveling by private or rental car, make sure to download the directions and Google Maps route before starting your journey. The distance from El Chaltén to our lodge is 10.5 miles (17 km).

• Connecting to El Calafate via Santiago: Upon arrival at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, take a direct fly to El Calafate in Argentina with SKY Airlines, which offers two weekly flights. If you arrive in the afternoon, we recommend staying overnight in El Calafate. We will arrange to pick you up the following day according to our pre-arranged schedule
• Connecting to Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales via Santiago: Upon arrival at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, take a connecting flight to either Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales. Cross into Argentina via the Río Don Guillermo crossing to reach El Calafate in Argentina. Our team will meet you there and transport you to Explora in a van.
• Connecting to El Chaltén via Explora Torres del Paine: From your stay at Explora Torres del Paine, you can travel with us to Explora in El Chaltén. The journey takes approximately eight hours, with a stop for meals and rest along the way. This service is part of our Explora Connects program and incurs an additional cost, which varies depending on the date of your stay.

Below, we share the schedules for in-out transfers.

Transfer on arrival to El Calafate:

• El Calafate Airport: Free shuttle service from El Calafate Airport to Explora El Chaltén is available at 12:00 PM and 4:30 PM.
• Hotels in El Calafate: Free shuttle service from hotels in El Calafate to Explora is available at approximately 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM.* Last-minute flight changes made within 24 hours of check-in may incur an additional fee if a special transfer arrangement is required.

Transfer on departure:

• El Calafate Airport: Departure from the hotel at 8:00 AM, with arrival at the airport by 11:30 AM.
• Hotels in El Calafate: Departure from the hotel at 8:00 AM, with arrival at your destination by 12:00 PM.

If needed, you may also opt for a private transfer, which has an additional cost. For availability, please contact your reservation executive or get in touch with reserve@explora.com prior to arrival.

Transfers to/from Explora Torres del Paine

Van transportation between Explora Torres del Paine and Explora El Calafate or Explora El Chaltén, available daily at 9:00 a.m., at an additional cost.
Transfers may be private or shared, with a minimum of two passengers.
Private transfers can accommodate up to six passengers.
Both routes depart at 9:00 a.m. to allow sufficient time for border crossing.
All transfers must be booked in advance, and availability must be confirmed with our reservations team at reserve@explora.com.

Distances

• The journey between Torres del Paine and El Chaltén is 402 km (250 miles) and takes approximately 8 to 9 hours.
• The journey between Torres del Paine and El Calafate is 374 km (232 miles) and takes approximately 5 to 6 hours.

Check-in takes place after 1:00 p.m. We recommend arriving at noon to take advantage of an afternoon half-day exploration on your first day.

Check-out must be completed by 10:00 a.m. Please note that our shared transfer departs at 8:00 a.m., so we kindly ask you to have your belongings ready the night before. Unfortunately, this does not allow time for a half-day exploration on your departure day. If you’d like to enjoy a morning exploration before leaving, we’re happy to arrange a private transfer at an additional cost — just let us know in advance.
