FAQs

  • Yes. Every Explora stay in Torres del Paine is fully all-inclusive. Your rate covers all accommodations, unlimited guided Explorations, all meals and beverages including Chilean wines and spirits, spa facility access, national park entrance fees, and round-trip transfers between Puerto Natales and the lodge. There are no supplementary charges for activities or guided experiences during your stay

  • Your stay includes accommodations in a 50-room lodge on the shores of Pehoé Lake, access to more than 40 guided Explorations — from treks to the iconic Towers to kayaking, horseback riding, and glacier hikes — all meals prepared by Explora’s culinary team, all beverages including wine, spa and pool access, national park entrance fees, and transfers. The only extras are personal purchases and optional spa treatments beyond the included facility access.

  • Explora Torres del Paine is located approximately 112 kilometers (70 miles) north of Puerto Natales along Ruta 9 and the Sarmiento road into Torres del Paine National Park. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours through Patagonian steppe and grasslands. Round-trip transfers between Puerto Natales and the lodge are included in every all-inclusive stay. Guests typically fly into Punta Arenas International Airport (PUQ), then travel to Puerto Natales by shuttle or private transfer before continuing to the lodge.

  • Explora Torres del Paine offers more than 40 guided Explorations, all included in your stay. Options include day treks to the Base of the Towers (Las Torres), hikes to Grey Glacier, kayaking on the park’s lakes, birdwatching for condors and flamingos, horseback riding with a rare breed of Patagonian horses on Explora’s own reserve, and gaucho cultural experiences. Every Exploration is led by guides trained at Explora’s own School of Guides and customized to your fitness level and interests.

  • The main trekking and expedition season in Torres del Paine runs from October through April (Southern Hemisphere spring through early fall). November to February offers the longest daylight hours and most stable weather, though wind is a constant factor year-round in Patagonia. Explora operates the lodge year-round; shoulder seasons (October–November and March–April) offer fewer visitors and lower rates while still providing full access to guided Explorations.

  • For travelers who want to maximize time in the park, staying inside is the better option. Puerto Natales is approximately 112 kilometers from the park entrance — a 1.5 to 2-hour drive each way — meaning a full day of exploration is lost for every night based in the city. Explora Torres del Paine is located inside the park on the shores of Pehoé Lake, with guided Explorations departing directly from the lodge each morning. Puerto Natales makes sense as a base for travelers on a tight budget or those doing a single day visit; for an all-inclusive expedition stay focused on depth of experience, the park lodge is the right choice.

  • Yes. While the park is most famous for multi-day trekking routes like the W Trek, Explora’s program of 40+ guided Explorations goes well beyond hiking. Options for guests who prefer lower-intensity or non-hiking experiences include horseback riding on Explora’s private Conservation Reserve, kayaking on the park’s lakes, wildlife watching for pumas, condors, and guanacos, boat excursions to Grey Glacier, and gaucho cultural experiences. Explorations are matched to each guest’s interests and fitness level daily — a non-hiker can have a full, varied stay without setting foot on a technical trail.

  • Yes. Explora Torres del Paine has a full-service spa and wellness area that includes a heated indoor pool, steam sauna, and open-air hot tubs with views across the national park. Spa facilities are included in the all-inclusive rate. Individual spa treatments are available to book separately and carry an additional charge. Appointments can be arranged at the lodge during your stay.

A place of my dreams It has been my another experience with Explora en Torres del Paine. A unique adventurous experience in a naturally luxurious environment with a service difficult to live up to by others and stunning views on the lake and the mountain. The anfitriona (the chef hostess of the place) María Luz has made me welcomed from the first minute of my stay as well as genuinely every member of the Explora team. A wonderful place!

Grand views! Native fauna represented by guanaco, rhea, puma, some birds whose name I don't know. If you go on a day trip have sufficient food and drink with you as pitstops are few and far between, selection limited, and prices exorbitant (if not extortionist). You have to buy the tickets in advance online, they don't sell them at the park. Seniors qualify for a decent discount.

Torres del Paine National Park is a wonder to behold. It definitely feels like the remote end of the Earth. We rented a car and drove through the park taking lots of time to stop at the lookouts, take short hikes and see the guanacos and waterfalls. Although the roads are mostly dirt, with an all wheel drive vehicle, the flexibility of driving is a wonderful way to go. Take a map previously printed or download one to your phone because cell phone access is not available. We took a few wrong turns, but every misstep was an adventure.
