A base hotel to explore the Sacred Valley

Sacred Valley

Located between Cusco and Machu Picchu, explora Valle Sagrado was designed as the base from where you can explore a remote and amazing site: the Sacred Valley of the Incas. All our programs include accommodation, transfers, meals and beverages, and a selection of more than 20 exclusive explorations developed by explora.

Through our explorations, you can visit from Cusco to Machu Picchu, passing by remote villages, archaeological sites such as Ollaytantambo, Moray, Chinchero and Pisac, and this region’s high peaks, like La Verónica or Incañan.

Why explora?

Exploring the Sacred Valley and its surroundings extensively and using a hotel immersed in Inca history as base, is explora Valle Sagrado’s proposal for its travelers to have an exclusive experience. Located between Cusco and Machu Picchu and 600 meters below the height of the ancient Inca capital city, our destination is the perfect starting point to explore this area.

explora Valle Sagrado lays on an old corn plantation established in one of the most retreated farms of the valley. It is sheltered and surrounded by mighty mountains that were once the home of the great Inca Empire.

Location

The Pumacahua Bath House is an old colonial manor located on one side of the hotel’s corn terraces. Rescued by our restoration and archaeology team, it contains the hotel’s spa where our guests can enjoy massages, a swimming pool, steam baths and saunas.

Spa Pumacahua Bath House

Some of the areas we will be visiting in Valle Sagrado include Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, Zapacto, Maras, Quimsacocha, Pisac, Cusco, Moray, and many others.

Privileged views

explora Valle Sagrado offers our guests more than 20 exploration activities, either on foot or bicycle. Our guides will take our travelers to experience the area’s unique geography and Andean culture in all it richness.

Explorations

Given the region's outstanding ancestral and cultural heritage, the commissioning and construction of the Valle Sagrado project was done in the most responsible way, working in close coordination with the Peruvian archeology institute. At the same time, we worked with the area's communities and we hope – starting as from this year – to establish a conservation and social responsibility program.

Sustainability

Since we believe that it is important to leave all daily concerns behind, our hotels are all inclusive: explorations, food, beverage, and transport.

Explorations in the Sacred Valley

Traveling through archaeological Inca sites, following the course of the Urubamba River by bike, visiting Machu Picchu or arriving at a glacier nearby Cusco are some of the explorations carefully designed by explora for its travelers. Through more than 20 options to explore, either walking, by van or riding a bike, our travelers discover from traditional villages still untouched by globalization to perfectly preserved ancient traces and lost lagoons in the Andean pampa.

Hotel & Services

Hotel & Services

Located in one of the Valley’s remotest haciendas, explora Valle Sagrado has views to the mountains that, some time ago, were part of the Inca Empire, and preserves pieces of history going back more than 400 years. The hotel is surrounded by Inca terraces and walls and our Casa de Baños Pumacahua bath house, where the hotel Spa is located, is a 17th century colonial mansion that belonged to a Peruvian Independence hero.

    What a place!

Fantastic place in Sacred Valley. The hotel includes everything you need, breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour, wines, drinks, beer, and also, all visits to the most important places in the region. The service is amazing, very nice people. Really recommended. Ps: the idea of the hotel is to let you rest and disconnect during the stay, so, there is no internet and TV in the rooms. And this is an amazing experience too.

    Once in a lifetime experience

We went to explora Valle Sagrado in Peru for our honeymoon and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming and thoughtful with an uncanny attention to detail about every aspect of the guests trip. We had excellent advice and guides-- the rooms were stunning and the food was top notch and the spa was stunning with excellent services. There is a huge attention to detail and ensuring that each guest gets exactly what they would like out of the experience. Cant recommend it enough and can't wait for our next explora trip!

explora continues to create and deliver exceptionally

Having stayed at the explora Patagonia a few years ago, we were thrilled to hear of the new opening in Peru's Sacred Valley. Traveling with my daughter and new son-in-law, we once again had a most amazing holiday. explora does everything 'just right' - from the warm, friendly arrival, the perfectly appointed rooms, delicious drinks and meal to the stand out guided walks and excursions. Perfect. It is luxury for sure but delivered without any airs or another snobbery often found in hotels at a similar price point. We are complete explora devotees and are already planning future holidays at the other properties. Thank you explora for an amazing experience.
