El Calafate

Patagonia, Argentina

Reaching El Calafate is part of the Patagonian adventure. It is accessible by air and road from Chile, serving as the gateway to the vast landscapes and iconic glaciers of Argentine Patagonia.

From Buenos Aires, Argentina

By Air:

The most convenient way to arrive is via El Calafate Airport (FTE), located just 30 minutes from our lodge. Regular flights connect El Calafate with Buenos Aires.

From El Chaltén, Argentina

By Road:

We provide ground transportation by van between Explora El Chaltén and Explora El Calafate on select days from October to April.

The trip may take approximately 3.5 hours. Ask availability and conditions to our reservations team: reserve@explora.com

 

From Torres del Paine, Chile

By Road:

For a more scenic and seamless journey, we offer transfers at preset schedules from our Lodges in Torres del Paine National Park or from the Explora Conservation Reserve.

These drives provide a unique way to experience Patagonia’s dramatic landscapes — from windswept steppe and turquoise lakes to snow-capped peaks — all while traveling in comfort and style.

The trip takes approximately six hours and includes crossing the border between Chile and Argentina.

Private transfers are also available if booked in advance, at an additional cost.

PICK-UP IN El Calafate
  • El Calafate Airport: The pick-up times at the airport are at 12:00 and 15:00*. Additional shuttle services are available at an extra cost.
  • El Calafate Hotels: The pick-up times from hotels in El Calafate are between 11:00 and 12:00. The specific time will be confirmed by our reservations team or by Explora El Calafate. The driver will only be able to wait a maximum of 15 minutes from the scheduled pick-up time.
  • Explora El Chaltén: The pick-up times are between 11:00 and 12:00. The specific time will be confirmed by our team at the lodge.
Drop-Off
