Chile is the Best Adventure Destination and explora takes the lead in South America

The prize-giving ceremony of the World Travel Awards for Latin America –considered as the tourism industry’s Oscar– took place in Mexico past September 9th. In this twenty-fourth version, explora won in two different categories.

Turismo Aventura

The awards include Leading Expedition Company in South America, granted to explora for the sixth consecutive year, and Best Hotel Boutique in Chile to explora Patagonia, a prize which it has received for the past three years.

Pioneers and Leaders in Adventure Tourism

explora began its operations in the early 90’s based on a drive for adventure and the unquenchable desire of a group of friends who shared their excitement for non-conventional travel and the will to open remote and unexplored destinations to the rest of the world.

Today, more than 20 years after, with four hotels –three in Chile and one in Peru– and three Travesias, explora is known as a leader in the tourism industry, both domestically and globally.

Since 1993, the World Travel Awards place the spotlight on the best tourism destinations and recognize excellence in the industry by granting awards to the best companies based on online voting by travel agents and tourism operators from around the world. For the sixth consecutive year, they have acknowledged explora’s leadership in the expedition category.

The award to Best Boutique Hotel in Chile granted for the third consecutive year to explora Patagonia consolidates explora’s prestige as the best option in the Chilean Patagonia and as a leader in the country.

Chile, the Best Adventure Destination

During this version of the WTA, Chile was also acknowledged for the third consecutive year as the Best Adventure Tourism Destination, winning among major industry benchmarks such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay.
