| The altitude in San Pedro and Cachi are similar, so are its climatic conditions. In Atacama, the weather is pleasant year round, with more than 90% sunny days. During the winter (June, July and August) the average temperature during the day fluctuates between 9ºC (48ºF) and 24ºC (75ºF). During the summer (January, February, and March) is warmer, reaching highs of 32ºC (90ºF). Between January and March, there is a phenomenon called the Altiplanic Winter, with occasional rain. | Weather in the Calchaquíes Valley is similar to the one in Atacama, a semi-desert zone with abundant sun and practically no rain (200 to 400 mm). Temperatures vary between 20°C (68ºF) and 25ºC (77ºF), with highs of 35ºC (95ºF) during the summer. At the campsite temperatures can be very low and drop to levels below zero beyond 3.000 meters high. |
