explora from-to El Chaltén

Whether departing from Chile or from Argentina, on this travesía we will explore the untouched geography and nature of the Patagonia. Traveling across its plains, forests, rivers, glaciers and mountainous formations, we will experience the diversity and uniqueness of the flora and fauna, which includes close to 500 animal species and thousands of plant species.

On the Argentine side, the travesía will be based at El Chaltén, in Los Glaciares National Park.

What you will need

A level of health and fitness adequate for the exertion of a journey which will include daily explorations of varying intensity. An adventurous spirit, a good outlook and flexibility in the face of unforeseen events is great to have on your Argentina travel.

Appropriate equipment, most importantly:

  • Trekking shoes
  • Trekking pants
  • A base layer of clothing: a thermal shirt, long underwear, and thick, warm socks
  • A second layer of clothing: a thin fleece
  • A third layer of clothing: a windproof fleece
  • A fourth layer of clothing: a down parka (a thick jacket)
  • A pair of thick gloves and ideally, a second pair of thinner gloves
  • Sunglasses with UV protection, ideally with lateral protection as well
  • A sunhat
  • Sunblock (minimum 30 SPF)
  • A small daypack (20 to 30 liters/quarts)
  • Sneakers or slippers for downtime
