explora travel social responsibility
explora, in its ongoing search of remote destinations, focuses its activities in places of unique and fragile beauty, where the few inhabitants in the area generally live in tiny villages. These communities carry on traditions that in many cases have been preserved for centuries.

When hiring, explora gives preference to people from local communities to be part of our team. While doing so has a significant impact on the local economy, our company also strives to balance these economic benefits with the respect and the conservation of the social and cultural traditions of the communities.

In 12 years of operation in Patagonia, we have learned as much from the descendents of early colonists as we have done from gauchos. In Atacama, we have discovered the rich traditions of the Atacamenian communities in San Pedro. Today our new challenge includes our integration into the Rapa Nui community on Easter Island as well as to the altiplanic villages in Bolivia and Argentina.

Our commitment not only reaches those local communities in which we operate, but given that the majority of our explorers come from countries around the world, we believe our social responsibility includes supporting foreign organizations year after year.
