As informed last evening, San Pedro de Atacama and its vicinity experienced a strong hail storm yesterday afternoon.
Road from San Pedro to Calama suffered some damages during the storm that prevented proper circulation last night. Authorities have habilitated a bypass and connectivity between San Pedro and Calama has been reestablished.
During the course of this morning, local authorities will be accessing road conditions in San Pedro and its vicinity, and consequently have issued a curfew for all inhabitants and businesses to stay put. As a result, explora will be cancelling today´s activities.
Forecast shows that inclement weather will last through Sunday February 10.

We hereby inform that San Pedro de Atacama and its vicinity experienced a strong hail storm this afternoon. The storm has not caused any damages to any of our hotel facilities and our travelers and staff are well. Weather conditions have forced the cancelation of Quincho (Barbecue) and stargazing activities.
We have also been advised that the road from San Pedro to Calama has been temporarily closed due to excess mud, but work is underway to clear it.
